Judge John Jacob was a traveling judge who lived in Spring City, Utah, before moving to Washington, D.C. in the early 1900s, following his election to the U.S. Congressional seat. Local Lore suggest Jacob was a colorful character who enjoyed entertaining and is rumored to have even entertained the likes of Butch Cassidy and other prominent folk at his home. The Judge John Jacob house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the owners were awarded a 2009 Heritage Award from the Utah Heritage Foundation for restoring the property.
